For students who have plans to study abroad, you may be wondering what is the difference between a University Internal Dorm or what many people know as the Inner Dorm and the Outer Dorm? You may be asking the question of where should you choose and which one is better? Peyton & Charmed have gathered the differences between these 2 dormitories for you to consider. Let's take a look!
What is a University Internal Dorm?
For University Internal Dorm or University accommodation, also known as an internal dormitory for short, it is a dormitory provided by the university for students. Originally, the University Internal Dorm or University accommodation was notable for its low price, and convenience in being located near the university. However, over the years the demand for study abroad is increasing and therefore the dormitories provided by the university are not enough to meet the rising demands of students interested. This has caused the university to find dormitories in different areas to accommodate the number of students. Therefore, in terms of a student dormitory, it is cheaper and closer to the university, however, with recent rise in demand and the universities trying to cater to the demand for accommodation, this has caused the surge in higher prices, even in locations that are further away from the university.
Apart from this, an additional common problem found in University Internal Dorms or University accommodation provided by the university, is that they often are in old conditions and students living here will also have to use a shared bathroom. Which, of course, may create difficulties in living for the students throughout the school year.
Summary of the advantages and disadvantages of the University Internal Dorm
Advantages
- Safety guaranteed
- No need to go through the hassle of finding external accommodations
- Easier to find friends in the same university
Disadvantages
- Old and worn out conditions
- Price does not differ with accommodation found externally
- There are student dorms that are both near and far from the university
- High likelihood of having a shared bathroom
- High crowd, especially in common rooms
Are University Internal Dorms really cheaper and closer to the university compared to an external accommodation?
Peyton & Charmed would like to briefly summarize that University Internal Dorm or University accommodation is actually not cheaper and closer to the university compared to an external student accommodation that is separate from the universities offering. There are numerous other student accommodations outside of University Internal Dorms that also have various facilities that are complete, whether it is a room for reading, a game area, movie room, communal kitchen, laundry room and communal garden, where students can come out to relax and meet new friends. Most importantly, there is a security system, including a key card, caretaker and 24 hours CCTV on-site.
